40columns A powerful, unapologetic insight into the human condition that is guaranteed to stop you in your tracks. The transition in Green and Maroon evokes something very real... Favorite track: Green & Maroon.

XUL//EXCELSI n Fliek. Van die hartverskeurendste bad luck so mooi verduidelik dat elke skoot van die toring betekenis kry. Atmosfeer agter die donkerste deur. Solo production as a point.
Almal kies. Kan nie ophou luister nie. AF

𝕃𝕖𝕖ℍ𝕒𝕣𝕧𝕖𝕪¹ 6:00 minutes into "Green & Maroon" you might feel a sudden ancient primal urge to shed your humanity and return to raw nature. I have only ever experienced that same feeling while listening to Fen. Absolutely beautiful. Favorite track: Green & Maroon.

Chris Krupa I've been trying to wrap my head around this album all week. It invites contemplation, scrutiny, and grace. And is all metal. There is a moment, a 'holy fuck' moment, on this album when the world stops and it is just this sound and all you can do is close your eyes and feel it. It's pure genius, a masterpiece of songwriting, and testament to the power of sound to transform human experience in the world. Favorite track: Ab Aeterno, Ad Infinitum.

flightoficarus (Metal Trenches) A stunning portrayal of some profoundly tragic events without a decipherable word needing to be uttered.  The drums, bass, shrieks, and especially the guitars adeptly tell the tale of a normal man striving to be a good husband, son, and countryman only to be crushed by the weight of the world.  A real life fall from grace if there ever was one.

Erin Dawson Such a focused vision, with a variety of sounds that are confoundingly consistent. Favorite track: Green & Maroon.

Moai 10:55
We stand as Moai in a field of illusion as time erodes us and artifice crumbles, as action ceases and our will dissolves, as chaos engulfs us and truth is revealed. No agency to escape that which is in motion. An incessant march through time while rooted in perspective, moments washing over us as waves upon a boulder. Erosion and dissolution bring new forms to light, each withering closer to the truth.
2.
My disgust and pity grow with the passing of time. Each heartbeat a pulse of hatred. My rage cannot be constrained within the walls of my flesh any longer. I open myself to chaos, I submit myself to chaos. Solipsistic nihilism envelops me, and I am no longer alive, or dead, or even human. There is nothing to understand, there is nothing to control, there is nothing to regret, there is nothing to hope for. There is only the chaos of submission to a thousand empty desires and the sublimation of command into a vapor lighter than air. A thousand births, a thousand deaths, a thousand screams, one final breath.
3.
Returned to the earth, the cycle neverending. The blood on my hands a realization of the madness. The self I’ve come to know exists outside of my control. Deceived by possibility, imprisoned by disorder; an awareness of the burden that we all share comes to light. Ab aeterno, ad infinitum. Time presents no canvas of possibility, but reveals its masterpiece with each crude brushstroke. Relentless in its march, we cling to delusions with a fury begot of powerlessness. Clawing at the walls until hope becomes regret and pain becomes death. Ab aeterno, ad infinitum.
4.
My flesh is but a vessel for the madness that commands us; Corporeal performers in a play without morality. I no longer question my role within the vastness; Atavistic impulse rises to the fore. Each act a veiled submission to the entropy simmering beneath the surface of our perception, bringing all life to its center. Without hesitation, and powerless to change, I channel chaos’ will upon those who are to blame. We are all to blame.

about

"All Too Human" is a concept album about free will inspired by the story of Charles Whitman.

Press for the album:

"'All Too Human' sees Valena push himself even further than usual... he's clearly invested a great deal of time and thought into perfecting his gloomy, generously melodic take on black metal—a sound whose harmonies retain traces of the project's folk-inspired roots, whose vocals are sparse and ragged, and whose percussion percolates quietly but purposefully under the rush of riffs and blankets of distortion." - Kim Kelly, Noisey

"Returning with his second full-length, Oskoreien meditates on both Charles Whitman’s story and the philosophical and ethical impact it holds on mankind... as radiant and pristine as this music is, there is a sudden, undeniable sadness which envelops it as a whole." - Invisible Oranges

"'All Too Human' gives us unrelenting waves and layers of guitars, punctuated by and built around simple but achingly beautiful melodies... It’s an album that never lets go, and never lets you rest." - No Clean Singing

"The songs are packed with anguish and punishment, though not of the typical black metal stereotypes. There’s a true human depth to this music which is very tangible, and you walk away from this impacted, perhaps placing more thought on the evils in the world and what’s truly behind everything.." - Meat Mead Metal
